Specific drive elements with high efficiency

The field of drive technology includes all elements for transmitting power and movement between different shafts. This transmission enables, for example, effective speed conversion, the control of motion sequences in industrial production facilities or the general transportation of goods. The JÄGER Group offers a wide range of products, particularly in the field of belts and bands made of rubber, plastic and various combinations of materials. In contrast to chain drives, which are highly efficient but do not allow torsion within the system, belts and tapes offer significantly lower noise levels with low maintenance requirements. For these reasons, they are used in machine and plant construction, the packaging industry, the appliance industry and agricultural machinery construction, among others.

Application areas

Non-positive drive elements

If the energy in a technical system is transmitted by the frictional forces that arise between the belt and the drive wheels, this is referred to as friction-locked drive elements. These are used wherever no synchronous movement of the elements is required and the drive may or should have slippage. We offer V-belts, V-ribbed belts and flat belts, among others, for this area. Flat belts have a rectangular cross-section and, like all non-positive drive elements, transmit energy exclusively via frictional forces. The contact surfaces of the associated drive wheels usually have upwardly curved or raised edges to prevent the belts from slipping off the pulley. V-belts are characterized by their simple installation and long service life and allow a large transmission ratio. They are manufactured wrapped or open-sided and offer a higher transmissible power than flat belts. V-ribbed belts have individual ribs that run alongside the actual belt. The larger contact surface on the V-belt pulley results in greater friction and therefore a higher power transmission than with conventional V-belts. They are very well suited for the simultaneous drive of auxiliary units.

Form-fit drive elements

If the energy in a technical system is transmitted by belts and associated drive wheels with a form-fit profile, these are referred to as form-fit drive elements. These are used when the drive requires a synchronous movement that must not exhibit any slippage. Power is not transmitted via frictional forces, but by the normal force between the belt tooth and toothed pulley. These include timing belts and toothed flat belts. Timing belts and flat timing belts made of rubber or PUR enable the low-noise transmission of high torques with low space requirements and dead weight. Due to their positioning accuracy, these belts, as finite elements, are also particularly suitable for linear drives. Timing belts can also be used to effectively perform control tasks between different elements of a system.
